The first explosion in China ——Blasting and Demolition Project of Guangzhou Gymnasium A blasting volume of 43000 square meters was the largest urban controlled blasting in the history of Chinese blasting and the latest technology in the history of world blasting at that time, known as the "first blasting in China". On May 18, 2001, the Guangzhou Sports Center, covering an area of 11000 square meters and a total construction area of 43000 square meters, was successfully blasted. It was also the first in China to promote environmentally friendly and clean demolition blasting, and two helicopters were rented for high-altitude watering and dust removal. The unprecedented explosion allowed CCTV to open a live broadcast room and continuously report for 15 days, attracting more than 70 media outlets from home and abroad to gather in Guangzhou, attracting widespread attention from society. For the first time, urban blasting technology was turned into popular science knowledge and spread to billions of viewers, thus promoting the breakthrough development of the entire blasting industry, creating a new situation for safe demolition of urban centers, and winning the first prize for China's engineering blasting technology progress.
